Jordan Henderson will almost certainly miss Liverpool’s upcoming Champions League games against Real Madrid through injury, according to The Athletic’s James Pearce.

The Reds have been hampered by injuries throughout this season, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Thiago and Diogo Jota all missing big chunks of action.

Although Jurgen Klopp’s injury woes have eased slightly – apart from at centre-back – Henderson is a current casualty, with the skipper absent since suffering a groin problem in the defeat to Everton last month.

Pearce confirms Henderson injury blow

Pearce has now confirmed that the 30-year-old will play no part in the matches against Real Madrid as the two clubs meet in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The first leg takes place in Spain on April 6th, before Liverpool host the La Liga giants at Anfield on April 14th, in what promises to be a mouthwatering tie.

Pearce, who is renowned as one of the most reliable journalists on the club, wrote in The Atheltic:

‘With their injury problems at centre-back and the continued absence of captain Jordan Henderson, who is not expected back in time to face Madrid, Liverpool are weakened.’

Henderson’s absence is a huge concern ahead of two games of such magnitude as Liverpool look to avenge their 2018 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

The captain’s energy, leadership and quality will all be missed, putting pressure on the likes of Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum and Thiago to excel without him against the Spanish giants.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie revealed that he is keen to see Tammy Abraham link-up with Dean Smith’s men again.

Abraham has struggled for game time under new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel – though that has partly been down to injury – and is now being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Villa, where the 23-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell back in the 2018/19 season, are said to still be admirers of the English striker, meaning the Midlands club could be interested in a move in the summer if he does become available.

And for Hendrie, it is a transfer that he would love to see happen. The ex-Villa player told FFC in an exclusive interview:

“I’m a big fan of Tammy, I really am. I just feel that he’s got great energy. When he was at Villa for that period of time, he was immense, he really was. He was a breath of fresh air, he gave it that belief, he gave fans a lot of pleasure and he scored a lot of goals. It might be that Tammy has to leave Chelsea, and I do feel that coming to Villa, I think it’d be a fabulous fit.”

Hendrie later went on to add:

“He’s a player I’d have all day at the club because, at the moment you’re looking at the overload that Ollie Watkins has gone through this season, [he’s] played a hell of a lot of games. Imagine having those two in your squad. I just feel that’d be a massive positive push for Villa.”

Without a doubt, the last couple of months have been difficult for Abraham, who is up against the likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz for that No.9 spot at Chelsea. Furthermore, an exit really could be on the cards if his situation does not change.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Carlton Palmer praised Leeds United summer signing Raphinha and the impact he has made at Elland Road this season.

The 24-year-old joined the Yorkshire club from French outfit Rennes in a £17m deal last October and has not disappointed manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Raphinha is proving himself to be a game-changer and has been directly involved in 10 of Leeds’ 43 Premier League goals in the current campaign. The Brazilian is also averaging 2.1 key passes per game, the highest average in the Whites’ squad (via WhoScored), further showing his attacking influence.

His displays in English football’s top flight have caught the eye, and Palmer is one individual who has certainly taken notice. Speaking exclusively to FFC about Raphinha, Palmer said:

“I’ve seen a lot of him and I’ve read up a lot on him. I mean, he’s a Brazilian and, you know, especially away from home, I think he’s a fantastic outlet for Leeds United because of his ability to dribble with a ball.

“It’s typical Brazilian flair and style, but he has assists and is getting into positions to make crosses because of his pace and his ability to dribble past players.”

If Raphinha continues performing at the level he has been at this season, it will be interesting to see where that takes him.

Despite only arriving at Elland Road last year, the Brazilian attacker is already being linked with a move elsewhere, with current Premier League champions Liverpool said to be circling.

According to France Football (via MailOnline), Raphinha tops the Reds’ shortlist of transfer targets for the summer. Leeds, however, are said to be under no pressure to sell, which will come as welcome news to Bielsa.

Manchester United have been boosted by the return of Victor Lindelof for their crunch FA Cup clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The centre-back was absent for the narrow 2-1 win at Fulham, a game that saw the Red Devils surrender the lead, and he has missed five of their last seven games, which has left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with his options tested as Eric Bailly has been used in the backline despite suffering injury setbacks himself.

Lindelof reunited with his teammates during first-team training at Carrington ahead of the game at the Theatre of Dreams and Solskjaer is optimistic about his chances.

“Victor will be fine for the weekend, it was just too quick a turnaround we felt with the travel and with his back,” said Solskjaer.

“I wanted to play Eric today (against Fulham) when Victor’s not ready anyway.”

The Norwegian boss could be without several players for the FA Cup fourth-round tie with Liverpool as Anthony Martial remains a doubt, whilst Brandon Williams is still sidelined due to injury.

Whilst last week’s Premier League fixture with Fulham was too soon for Lindelof, Solskjaer has suggested that he hopes to have him back for the game against Liverpool, so perhaps we could see him start this afternoon.

Solskjaer quite clearly rates Lindelof very highly as he’s recently claimed that “Victor and Harry, they have been excellent as a pairing,” but his return leaves the Norwegian with a big decision to make at the back.

There’s no denying the fact that this will be one of the toughest decisions that the club legend has had to deal with since taking charge at Old Trafford.

Whilst Harry Maguire is one of the first names on the teamsheet, Bailly and Lindelof are the two battling to bag a spot, but there are still questions over both centre-backs.

The England international has started 19 games in the Premier League this season so far so it’s fair to say that his position is fairly secure.

Indeed, Lindelof will probably come back in to replace Bailly, but that seems incredibly harsh on the Ivorian defender, who has been producing the goods with his performances in recent weeks, earning a high 7.2 rating by SofaScore for his defensive shift against Fulham as a result.

But the 26-year-old has shown that he is prepared to put in the graft to deny opponents, as evidenced by the fact he currently averages 3.9 clearances per game, that the best of all defenders and the highest overall, via WhoScored.

Able to play at both centre-back and right-back, Lindelof’s versatility is an added bonus for the United boss if a player suffers an injury.

We certainly don’t envy Solskjaer the decision, that’s for sure, whilst he will now hope his side can record back-to-back clean sheets against the Reds, this time as they seek to advance to the next stage of the competition.

No clássico entre os dois grandes até então invictos do Carioca-2016, a probabilidade de que chegasse ao fim a série sem derrotas de um dos dois times era de 66%. Mas os 33% do empate prevaleceu no clássico entre Vasco e Botafogo, neste domingo, em São Januário. O jogo foi bom, animado, e o 1 a 1 só se definiu nos minutos finais, com um golaço do zagueiro Emerson para o Alvinegro, após o Cruz-Maltino largar na frente com Riascos.

O resultado pela sétima rodada não afeta em nada os planos dos dois times em relação à classificação para a segunda fase. Vasco, líder do Grupo A, chegou aos 17 pontos, enquanto o Glorioso, na ponta do Grupo B, foi a 19.

Na próxima rodada, a última da primeira fase, o Vasco enfrenta o Bonsucesso, em Los Lários, enquanto o Botafogo visita o Boavista, em Bacaxá.

No primeiro tempo, o Vasco se mostrou mais à vontade em campo, até porque demorou para que o Botafogo se organizasse minimamente para conseguir sair jogando. O time cruz-maltino se mostrou mais robusto quando buscou as jogadas pelo lado, principalmente pelo direito. Quem mais levou perigo ao Botafogo foi Riascos – por mais que seja surpreendente para alguns. O colombiano, inclusive, quase fez um golaço, em um chute cruzado dado após entortar a defesa.

Mas o Vasco não foi totalmente soberano na etapa inicial. Um “blackout” de Rodrigo, recuando mal uma bola para Martin Silva, quase resultou em gol do Botafogo. A cabeça do zagueiro só não foi para a guilhotina porque a finalização de Ribamar foi interceptada pelo goleiro uruguaio.

Ricardo Gomes não ficou satisfeito com o que viu na etapa inicial e logo para o começo do segundo tempo lançou Neilton no jogo. E o garoto, que ainda está recuperando a melhor forma física, entrou cheio de pressão, quase marcando.

Jorginho também mexeu. Optou por Eder Luis. Outro para botar pressão no jogo. E dessa vez funcionou. Dois minutos depois, Eder deixou Riascos sem goleiro, dentro da pequena área. Gol do Vasco, gol de um dos artilheiros do Carioca, em uma das melhores apresentações dele pelo clube. Pena para o Vasco que o mesmo Riascos saiu machucado dez minutos depois.

O Botafogo sentiu o baque, diminuiu a intensidade, ficou meio perdido. Mas, quase no apagar das luzes, o zagueiro Emerson acertou um chutaço de falta, fazendo o golaço e empatando o placar no clássico.

Já o banco de reservas estará cheio de novidades. São seis jogadores que não estavam no Palestra Itália no ano passado: o goleiro Vagner, o zagueiro Roger Carvalho, o volante Jean, o meia Régis e o atacante Erik, todos recém-contratados, e o zagueiro Thiago Martins, que estava emprestado ao Paysandu e voltou.

– Jogar contra o Palmeiras não é fácil, então não podemos sair desesperados querendo ganhar, pois sabemos do perigo que corremos e da qualidade do Palmeiras. Temos que marcar muito forte e explorar os contra-ataques – disse o jogador.

O técnico Marcelo Veiga não poderá usar os atacantes Stéfano Yuri e Diogo Campos, que ainda não estão inscritos no Campeonato Paulista. No ano passado, o Botafogo encerrou sua participação no Estadual justamente diante do Palmeiras, nas quartas de final. O Verdão perdeu a decisão para o Santos.

ويستقبل جالطة سراي على ملعبه في “تورك تيليكوم آرينا” نظيره فناربخشة بالجولة الثالثة عشر من الدوري التركي، وتنطلق المباراة في تمام الساعة السادسة بتوقيت القاهرة، السابعة بتوقيت المملكة العربية السعودية.

ولم يشارك مصطفى محمد كأساسي مع جالطة سراي في الأربع مباريات الماضية، حيث كان بديلًا في ثلاث مباريات بالدوري التركي وواحدة بمسابقة الدوري الأوروبي.

وحسب الصحيفة التركية، فإن فاتح تريم المدير الفني لـ جالطة سراي ينوي الاعتماد غدًا على مصطفى كأساسي في مواجهة فناربخشة.

وقالت إن ما حدث في مران جالطة سراي اليوم السبت، يُشير إلى أن مصطفى محمد سيتم الاعتماد عليه في التشكيل الأساسي ولن يجلس على مقاعد البدلاء كما كان الحال في المباريات السابقة.

وأوضحت أن خلال التدريبات كان هُناك تركيز من جانب تريم على مصطفى محمد بأن يكون أقرب إلى المرمى بعكس زميله خليل درويش أوغلو.

Director of Football Marcel Brands can build Everton their dream midfield unit by securing Isco’s services from Real Madrid amid reports the Spaniard wishes to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti and James Rodriguez.

According to the Mirror, Isco is keen to link up with Ancelotti and Rodriguez once more following their time together at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Isco has been cast aside by Galacticos boss Zinedine Zidane and is no longer considered a part of the Frenchman’s plans, allowing for the Los Blancos hierarchy to make the 28-year-old available for a potential January transfer.

Real intend to utilise the mid-season loan market in hope of offloading the 38-cap Spain international, but will insist that any deal features an obligation to buy Isco at the end of the season for around £18million plus add-ons.

Isco’s representatives have been made aware of Real’s decision and are actively sounding out interest in England and Italy, though a move to the Premier League is thought to appeal more to the Benalmadena-born maestro.

Everton are deemed to be the early leaders in the race to sign Isco, where the Los Blancos outcast’s close friend Rodriguez would love to see him join, while former potential suitors Arsenal and Juventus are not believed to be pushing for a deal at present.

Isco featured 106 times under Ancelotti during the Italian’s tenure in charge of Real Madrid, in which the midfield playmaker provided 17 goals and 22 assists as they secured the 2013/14 Champions League and 2014/15 UEFA Super Cup.

Ancelotti was full of admiration for Isco when Los Blancos President Florentino Perez agreed a deal worth around €27m (£23m) with Malaga in 2013, noting via The Guardian: “It’s clear he has a lot of quality. Spain’s Under-21s side has a lot of great players and he is one of the best. He could get into any team in the world, so he could also play for Madrid.”

A dream unit

Ancelotti may now get the chance to see Isco play for Everton, in what could be a dream unit in royal blue featuring his former creative partner and friend Rodriguez should Brands reach an agreement with Real Madrid.

Isco would bring another level of experience to Merseyside after a summer masterclass in acquiring Rodriguez for free, as the Spaniard went on to clinch three further Champions League honours after Ancelotti’s departure, along with two La Liga crowns, two Spanish Super Cups, two UEFA Super Cups and three FIFA Club World Cups.

His outcast status under Zidane has ensured the 28-year-old has only started two of his five La Liga appearances for the campaign totalling a mere 177 minutes of game time, but has contributed goals and assists in every Spanish top-flight season since moving to Madrid.

Isco also created a big chance to score and missed a big chance in his limited game time this term, per SofaScore, while creating four glaring opportunities and missing two on route to two assists and one goal last term thanks to an average of 1.0 key balls and 0.8 shots a game.

Of his 31 accurate passes per game, 21.4 also came in the opponent’s half with an 82% success rate, while completing 73% of his dribbles, winning 58% of his ground duels, making 0.6 tackles, and playing 1.3 chipped passes with a 60% accuracy rating.

Rodriguez hardly enjoyed a stellar final year at the Santiago Bernabeu, either, with just one goal and one assist in an injury-ravished campaign but has scored three goals and assisted a further three in six Premier League appearances for Everton since his arrival.

Ancelotti would also benefit vastly from Isco’s versatility, given the Spanish ace can play in wide roles on either side of the field along with through the centre, offering the Italian multiple options in one.

For a player once valued as high as £81m by Transfermarkt in 2018, a loan with an £18m obligation could prove to be one of Everton’s best pieces of business possible come January.
