The ICC is considering increasing funding for Associate and Affiliate nations as part of the ongoing review into its governance and structure. The news will go some way to appeasing Associate representatives aggrieved by the effects of the ICC’s 2014 financial and administrative restructuring, informally referred to as the Big Three takeover.Funding for the 95 Associate and Affiliate nations from 2015-23 has currently been agreed at $299 million, only a slight increase in real terms from the $252 million awarded to Associate and Affiliate nations in the preceding media and commercial rights package from 2007-15. Had the ICC rights for 2015-23 been distributed according to the previous revenue model (2007-2015), Ehsan Mani, the former ICC President, estimates that the Associate nations could have received over $550 million.Under the new model, Associate representatives believe that the majority of the ICC’s 95 non-Test members face a real terms funding reduction. “Over 50 Associates and Affiliates [out of a total of 95] are likely to be worse off in 2015-16 compared to 2014-15,” said Simone Gambino, the Italian Cricket Federation president. The claim was backed up by a number of other representatives, who expressed grave concerns about the future of the game beyond the Full Member nations.”I worry how some countries will recover from the crushing reduction in funds. All that we have achieved is at risk,” said Ken Farmiloe, the Chairman of Cricket Belgium. “As far as I can see, Ireland are the only country in Europe who are better off in 2016. Most countries seem to be worse off as, in addition to a reduction in funds, there will be no financial support from ICC Europe for projects.”When contacted by ESPNcricinfo, the ICC privately denied that such a large number of nations will be worse off, saying that the number who have suffered funding reductions in 2015-16 is no higher than in a typical year. According to the ICC’s rules, funding is determined by a combination of on-field performance and the ICC’s “scorecard” tally which takes into account a myriad of development factors to rank associates and determine funding. The ICC were unwilling to specify how many countries are better or worse off in 2015-16 compared to 2014-15, but said the new funding model for Associates and Affiliates was designed to prevent sides that maintain their position in the rankings from being financially worse off.Shashank Manohar’s recent comments have been a boost to the Associates•AFP

It is however understood that, when the discontinuation of the Targeted Assistance and Performance Programme (TAPP) is taken into account, a number of leading Associates will receive less ICC funding. Cricket Scotland are understood to be over $200,000 worse off comparing 2014-15 and 2015-16. The Netherlands, UAE and Kenya are other prominent countries that have suffered an overall funding reduction.Privately, senior ICC figures say that they are looking for a more efficient funding scheme to replace TAPP, perhaps called an ODI or Cricket Fund. They also stressed that TAPP was only introduced in 2012, midway through the last rights cycle, and expect an equivalent scheme to be implemented much quicker in the current rights cycle.Given the ongoing review into the ICC’s funding distribution model. David Richardson, the ICC chief executive, said: “It would be pointless to speculate further at this stage as to whether any particular group of members will be better or worse off financially than before.”Associate nations have been encouraged by Shashank Manohar’s words since taking over as ICC chairman. One senior source said they were hopeful that India’s share of ICC revenue would be reduced, perhaps from 22% to 16%, as previously reported, and this could lead to the overall pot for Associate and Affiliate nations increasing from $299 million to $325-350 million from 2015 to 2023. Another figure said that Manohar has been surprised that Zimbabwe receive over $5 million more than Afghanistan and Ireland from the ICC, and hoped to close this gap substantially. Funding shortages are expected to have made Ireland, for example, unable to commit to some ODIs they have arranged in 2016 and beyond.Any increased funding towards Associate members is likely to follow the recent trend of Associate spending being targeted more aggressively towards the highest-ranked nations like Afghanistan and Ireland. Because of their inclusion on the 12-team ODI rankings table, Afghanistan and Ireland receive an extra $1.7 million a year from the ICC, and around $2.5 million annually in total from the ICC. “Their funding success has come at the expense of other Associates and Affiliates,” Malcolm Cannon, the chief executive of Cricket Scotland, said in December.Countries in the World Cricket League Championship, the competition for the next rung of Associates in ODI cricket, receive only $300,000 a year for participation in the tournament, and none currently receive more than $1.2 million in total a year.Richardson explained why the ICC was committed to prioritising spending towards the strongest performers among Associate nations. “One of the objectives arising from the recently approved ICC Strategic Plan for the period 2015-19, which is relevant to the development of the game, is achieving more competitive teams at the highest level. To achieve this we need to be more targeted in the allocation of resources – money and services – to the members that have the potential to be competitive at that level, i.e. to deliver the desired return on investment.”The objective is therefore to provide more funding to the likes of Ireland, Afghanistan and others who have the potential to compete successfully at the highest level, preferably without reducing the level of funding available for distribution to the other members from what they collectively received before.”This marks a continuation of the process in 2008, when Associate and Affiliate nations decided to pool their funding and divide it up according to the scorecard, thereby rewarding countries making progress. Several representatives stressed that they supported the increased funding for the top Associates but felt the overall funding pot for Associates and Affiliates was insufficient given the rise in the value of ICC commercial deals.Ultimately some in the ICC hope to move to a model in which funding for all nations, including Full Members, is based more on performance and less on status. Proposals for two divisions in Test cricket (comprising seven teams in Division One and five in Division Two, with promotion and relegation) and a ODI format pitting the 12 leading nations in groups (perhaps two with six teams each) to form the basis of World Cup qualification are being advocated by Richardson and other senior figures at the ICC, as part of the ongoing review into the structure of cricket. It is envisaged that the ICC would fund the costs of matches within any such structure.Some Associate representatives remain unconvinced. “Whether the changes will affect the smaller Associates and Affiliates remains to be seen,” Farmiloe said. He also expressed his concern that World Cricket League Six has been scrapped; in total, since 2012, the number of divisions in the World Cricket League has fallen from eight to five. “The cutting of WCL excludes many countries vying to better their cricket. Also, the big question is what the ICC regional offices will do without a budget.”Spending on department services – money largely allocated to regional offices who then provide grants and support to members – has fallen from $81 million from 2007-15 – to an estimated $56 million under the current 2015-23 funding model.

Shakib Al Hasan and Morne Morkel, central to their plans last season, were benched. It didn’t look like it, as Andre Russell and Brad Hogg took three wickets apiece to skittle Delhi Daredevils for 98. Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir’s 69-run opening partnership then set a strong platform for a nine-wicket win with 35 balls to spare.Russell and John Hastings, who took Morkel’s place, ran in hard and hit the deck harder to extract unusually high bounce. Quinton de Kock, who had pulled Umesh Yadav for back-to-back boundaries, was the first to go when he skewed a catch to mid-off. Four balls later, Shreyas Iyer was trapped lbw for a duck. Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair also exited in successive overs as Hastings capped the Powerplay with a wicket maiden. Apesar da contusão séria que o atleta de 31 anos de idade sofreu em setembro do ano passado com uma fratura dupla na perna esquerda, limitando bastante o seu período atuando no time pelotense, as palavras de despedida ditas por Pereira foram de agradecimento aos dois anos que pode defender o clube Xavante.

– Foi uma experiência importante ter atuado por quase dois anos no Brasil de Pelotas. Agradeço a cidade que me acolheu bem e logicamente a todos do clube. Tenho muito respeito ao torcedor Xavante. Eles sempre tiveram um carinho especial comigo e podem ter certeza que levarei o clube no meu coração – disse.

Sobre a sua condição física em especial, ele pontuou que teve as naturais dificuldades para superar tanto tempo de inatividade, mas que, com os devidos trabalhos físicos, se sente pronto para voltar à ativa:

– Foram 11 meses de muita fisioterapia, fortalecimento muscular e recondicionamento físico. Foi um período longo sem poder fazer o que mais gosto, que é jogar futebol. Mesmo muito difícil, procurei forças com meus amigos, parentes, funcionários do Brasil de Pelotas e torcedores. Consegui superar essa adversidade, que faz parte da rotina de um jogador. Hoje me sinto bem e preparado para dar sequência na minha carreira.

This time last year, Liam Livingstone made headlines around the world after smashing 350 off 138 balls in a club match for Nantwich. At the time, he had not played for Lancashire’s first team and it was only a couple of weeks ago that he was deemed ready for a first-class debut; now he has a maiden first-class hundred to his name and, if it won’t quite make the national news, it will be warmly received back at Old Trafford, as well as in his home county of Cumbria.Batting down at No. 7, Livingstone arrived at the crease at the end of the first over of the day and spent much of the rest of it – either side of a three-and-a-half hour delay for rain – compiling an unbeaten 108 from 152 balls. It was a crisp, invigorating knock that helped pierce the gloom in Taunton, eventually allowing Lancashire to declare their first innings in evening sunlight and have a few overs at Somerset before the close.There might yet come a time when Lancashire supporters greet reports of a substantial middle-order contribution with the response: “Livingstone, I presume?” This was the 22-year-old’s second first-class innings and, having scored 70 on debut against Nottinghamshire a fortnight ago, his average stands at 178.00. He is collecting some big numbers.With a cover drive that practically left scorch marks on the already furrowed Taunton outfield, there looks to be much to recommend Livingstone’s game – albeit this was not the most challenging of surfaces to bat on. As Livingstone approached his milestone, one Somerset supporter in the new Pavilion Stand could be heard bemoaning “This pitch is dead!” in the manner of someone discussing the future prospects of a Norwegian Blue.Lancashire had involved Livingstone in limited-overs cricket – he played every match of their title-winning NatWest T20 Blast campaign last season – and he has expressed a desire to make an impression across all formats this year. He spent the winter playing in Perth, where he worked on his legspin with Australia’s Brad Hogg, though it might be a while before he has to fall back on his second string given current form. There were also sessions with Justin Langer’s former batting mentor, Neil “Noddy” Holder; here it was the Somerset bowlers who were slayed.Livingstone’s other notable episode in 2015 was to be cut by a glass during a bar-room altercation after Lancashire’s Blast quarter-final win over Kent. There was nothing remotely controversial about this innings, aside from a few Pietersen-esque whips to leg as he advanced down the pitch. He went to 97 with a mighty six off Jack Leach, before nudging a couple to reach his hundred in the following over, to loud applause from the visiting balcony.Lancashire must now buckle down to the task of taking 20 wickets if they are to force a result over the next two days. Whether you consider this sort of contest attritional or nutritional, it is going to require some fibre from the bowlers to break the game open after 34 overs were lost to rain.At one point, it looked as if the demands on Somerset’s attack would be even greater, with Jamie Overton gingerly walking off after completing his fourth over of the day. However, the arrival of several heavy showers – which gave Somerset’s new drainage a good test – allowed him time to recover, although his luck did not improve as Kyle Jarvis joined forces with Livingstone during an 80-run stand for the ninth wicket.Despite another demur showing, the surface initially appeared to be a little racier – the Ann Summers in Taunton proclaimed this to be “Spank Holiday Monday”, after all – and Tim Groenewald had Alex Davies caught behind flirting outside off stump in the first over of the morning.Lancashire avoided any further peccadillos in the first hour. After one run had been scored from 32 balls, Livingstone stroked Craig Overton through the covers to bring up the Lancashire 300, though progress remained on the steady side and no further batting points were accrued. Livingstone’s second boundary was less controlled, a thick outside edge flying wide of the slips, while from the other end Groenewald got one delivery to rear sharply at Croft.Both batsmen were content to be watchful and wait for their rewards to come, an approach that looked likely to bear fruit as Chris Rogers again wasted little time in bringing on his spinner. Leach was given no opportunity to settle, however, as his second over was pumped for 17, with Croft and Livingstone taking it in turns to cart him beyond the ropes.Leach was swiftly replaced by Somerset’s back-up left-arm spinner, Roelof van der Merwe, whose flatter, quicker delivery accounted for Croft, caught behind trying to cut six runs short of his century. Lancashire’s captain punched his bat as he walked off, in frustration at missing out, but Livingstone would not make the same mistake.

A parceria entre clube e empresa é antiga. Fundada na própria Chapecó, a indústria estampa a sua marca no manto do Verdão do Oeste desde 2017.

No primeiro acordo, que encerrou em dezembro deste ano, o valor do contrato era de R$ 4,5 milhões. Neste novo acordo o dinheiro anual e a premiação por títulos não foi divulgado.

Na próxima temporada, a Chapecoense terá a Série B, principal competição do calendário, Copa do Brasil e Estadual para disputar.

Para o novo treinador, o segundo volante precisa ser um ‘meia’. Para isso, o Timão tem Cantillo como alvo, já que Junior Urso foi vendido ao Orlando City, dos Estados Unidos. O colombiano tem ótima visão de jogo, bons passes de média e longa distância e é hábil nas inversões de jogo, fazendo o papel que Bruno Guimarães desempenhava no Athletico de Nunes.

Para Tiago Nunes, os pontas são fundamentais para a construção ofensiva. Luan deve ficar na ponta esquerda, ou até como meia-armador. Na direita, o Timão busca mais um ponta no mercado, que pode ser Michael. Oesquema do novo treinador prioriza um camisa nove clássico. Boselli deve pintar a frente de Love e Gustagol na posição.

De uma coisa é certa: O Corinthians deve alterar, e muito, a sua forma de jogar na próxima temporada.

O Macaé vai jogar em casa no Campeonato Carioca. Depois de sofrer na seletiva de 2019 sem poder atuar no Estádio Cláudio Moacyr, os torcedores do Leão tem motivos de sobra para comemorar: o Moarcyzão, como é conhecido, está liberado para receber jogos oficiais com a presença do torcedor. A reestreia já tem data para acontecer e será no confronto entre Macaé Esporte e Nova Iguaçu, pela 2ª rodada da primeira fase do Campeonato Carioca, no dia 28 de dezembro, às 15h.

O Moarcyzão não recebe uma partida oficial desde o dia 20 de janeiro deste ano, quando foi interditado após Cabofriense x Botafogo pelo Campeonato Carioca. A prefeitura de Macaé e a diretoria do Macaé Esporte atuaram em conjunto pela liberação da praça esportiva e cumpriram todas as exigências. Os laudos liberatórios já foram emitidos.

Além disso, o local passou por reformas no vestiário, que recebeu nova iluminação, ar-condicionado e toda estrutura para receber as delegações, e está recebendo nova pintura. Representante do clube e responsável pela liberação do estádio na parte documental junto as instituições, o diretor Executivo do Macaé Esporte, Carlos Alberto Ferreira, não escondeu a satisfação pela conquista.

– Trabalhamos duro para liberar o estádio. A nossa secretária de esporte nos deu todo suporte, agradeço também a atenção da equipe da vigilância sanitária. Quando se trabalha com seriedade e responsabilidade a vitória se torna questão de tempo. Fizemos tudo que era possível, buscamos os laudos, cumprimos as exigências e agora é preparar a reabertura do estádio no jogo com o Nova Iguaçu. Aproveito para adiantar que a partida com o Friburguense também já está liberada. Fizemos a nossa parte, agora esperamos uma grande festa da torcida nos jogos em casa. Respeitamos os adversários, mas o Macaé vai dar a vida pela vaga na fase principal do Campeonato Carioca – disse.

A secretária de esporte da cidade, Andréia Freitas, que teve participação na liberação do estádio, lembrou a importância do Claudio Moacyr para Macaé.

– Em primeiro lugar, agradecer a todos pelo empenho em ajudar a liberar o Estádio Cláudio Moacyr. Tenho certeza que todos caminharam de mãos dadas visando o melhor para Macaé. Sempre apoiamos os times de futebol da cidade, da região e também do estado. Claro que quem ganha também é a torcida, que apoia o time da sua cidade. Jogando em casa sempre é muito melhor, onde toda a família pode curtir a emoção de uma partida. Aproveito em nome da Prefeitura de Macaé, da secretaria de esportes para fazer um convite aos torcedores para comparecerem ao estádio nos jogos do Macaé Esporte, para passar energia positiva na seletiva. Não posso deixar de falar do futebol feminino que vem crescendo pela região, e o Moacyrzão também está aberto para elas que a cada dia conquistam seu espaço – afirmou.

O Macaé estreia no Campeonato Carioca neste domingo, diante do América, em Edson Passos, às 15h.

O treinador Jesualdo Ferreira esbanjou carisma em sua apresentação oficial no Santos, nesta quarta-feira, na Vila Belmiro. O profissional de 73 anos brincou com sua idade, prometeu um ‘trabalho alegre’ e arrancou risos da imprensa em algumas ocasiões.

– Para que falar da minha idade? (risos). É apenas um dado. Eu tenho 73 anos, é experiência, sabedoria, talvez, mas apenas um dado na identidade – falou o técnico.

– Não está gostando do meu jeito? (risos). Uma coisa que eu aprendi na vida é: nada se faz contra ninguém. Nada se constrói contra ninguém. Se eu tenho um time, eu não posso estar contra os jogadores, eu tenho que estar com os jogadores. Vamos transformar nosso trabalhos em dias e horas alegres, mas eles sabem que são profissionais, há momentos de tensão, há momentos que não tem de ser simpático. Lá em Portugal falam que eu sou um antipático. Não trata-se de simpatia, trata-se de sentimento – completou.

Jesualdo também adotou seriedade, principalmente sobre o elenco atual e a história construída pelo Santos no século passado. Vale lembrar que a primeira referência do comandante português do futebol brasileiro foi o Peixe, de Pelé, Pepe, Coutinho, Mengálvio e Dorval contra o Benfica na final do Mundial de Interclubes de 1962.

– Dorval, Mengálvio, Pelé, Pepe, Coutinho e Zito por trás foi minha primeira referência no futebol brasileiro. Entrar no Memorial (das Conquistas) mexeu comigo. E com todas as dificuldades jamais recusaria treinar o clube de Pelé, mítico, primeira referência do futebol brasileiro. Eu tinha 16 anos e vi o Santos contra o Benfica ser campeão do mundo. Como diria que não? Estou aqui de corpo e alma, com grande vontade de fazer bem. E com perspectiva que tenho, que falei para o presidente e William… História não pode parar. É preciso criar outra história. Santos precisa criar outra. Santos ganhou tudo até hoje. Todas. Vou acrescentar o que? Não tenho o que ganhar de diferente, mas temos que repetir títulos e valorizar a história – exaltou Jesualdo.

O presidente José Carlos Peres tomou a palavra, elogiou Jesualdo Ferreira pelos antigos trabalhos e entregou a camisa 10 do Santos a ele. Além disso, pediu paciência da torcida nos primeiros meses de trabalho do português.

– Campeão em três continentes. Ele dispensa comentários. Sempre é uma adaptação, o cara pode ser gênio, mas há vidas diferentes de Portugal, Catar, Grécia… Preparados e o Paulista será importante – comentou Peres.

A pré-temporada do Santos começa nesta quarta-feira, no CT Rei Pelé, de portões fechados. A ideia de Jesualdo Ferreira é contar com atletas da base e mais reforços.

-Falei com a diretoria sobre a realidade atual. Temos elenco de 24 ou 26 jogadores mais os goleiros. Temos jogadores de talentos na base e possibilidade de trazer alguém. Estamos conversando, não tivemos muito tempo e por telefone não é fácil. Temos que arrancar sempre com algo que é sólido. E Santos é sólido. Estou tranquilo, feliz, porque sei que sou capaz de melhorar muito essa equipe – declarou o comandante português.

O Santos terá 16 dias de pré-temporada até a estreia no Campeonato Paulista. A estreia será contra o Red Bull Bragantino, na Vila Belmiro, às 19h15.

Em uma equipe alternativa e com vários jogadores jovens, Kanu, mesmo com a pouca idade, já é um dos mais experientes do time. O defensor falou da parceira com Sousa, sua dupla no miolo de zagueiros.

-A gente vinha treinando junto desde o início. Eu falei para ele (Sousa): “Faz o que você sabe”. É um baita jogador, tem bastante potencial. É seguro, atento. Temos que continuar nessa pegada – analisou.
