In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Carlton Palmer praised Leeds United summer signing Raphinha and the impact he has made at Elland Road this season.

The 24-year-old joined the Yorkshire club from French outfit Rennes in a £17m deal last October and has not disappointed manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Raphinha is proving himself to be a game-changer and has been directly involved in 10 of Leeds’ 43 Premier League goals in the current campaign. The Brazilian is also averaging 2.1 key passes per game, the highest average in the Whites’ squad (via WhoScored), further showing his attacking influence.

His displays in English football’s top flight have caught the eye, and Palmer is one individual who has certainly taken notice. Speaking exclusively to FFC about Raphinha, Palmer said:

“I’ve seen a lot of him and I’ve read up a lot on him. I mean, he’s a Brazilian and, you know, especially away from home, I think he’s a fantastic outlet for Leeds United because of his ability to dribble with a ball.

“It’s typical Brazilian flair and style, but he has assists and is getting into positions to make crosses because of his pace and his ability to dribble past players.”

If Raphinha continues performing at the level he has been at this season, it will be interesting to see where that takes him.

Despite only arriving at Elland Road last year, the Brazilian attacker is already being linked with a move elsewhere, with current Premier League champions Liverpool said to be circling.

According to France Football (via MailOnline), Raphinha tops the Reds’ shortlist of transfer targets for the summer. Leeds, however, are said to be under no pressure to sell, which will come as welcome news to Bielsa.

Após a partida, o autor de dois gols do Corinthians nos 3 a 0 desta quarta-feira falou sobre seu estado clínico e confirmou que fará exames para detalhar a lesão na tarde desta quinta-feira, no CT Joaquim Grava.

– Tinha pedido antes para sair, já estava com dores desde o primeiro tempo. Falei que a qualquer momento poderia sair. Fiz o primeiro gol e depois, quando fui dar um passe de calcanhar para o André, acabei sentindo. Depois a dor aumentou, mas felizmente no último lance antes de sair eu consegui fazer o segundo gol, de perna esquerda.A dor foi no músculo posterior da perna direita, nesta quinta vou fazer uns exames para ver se está tudo bem – disse.

A ducha de água fria não fez efeito na equipe de Levir Culpi. Mesmo com o gramado ruim e sem brilho, o Fluminense foi superior na etapa inicial. Conseguiu a virada no oportunismo de Cícero e teve outras duas boas chances de ampliar a vantagem antes do intervalo.

O segundo tempo chegou e o cenário não mudou. Até pelo fato do Fluminense ter um pênalti a favor logo aos dez minutos. Contudo, Fred, que não marcava justamente desde o empate com o Madureira em fevereiro, cobrou e o goleiro Rafael fez boa defesa.

A festa do Tricolor Suburbano só durou um minuto. Foi o suficiente para a dupla Gustavo Scarpa e Cícero entrar em ação novamente para fazer o terceiro do Fluminense. Aliás, o camisa 40 é desde o ano passado o jogador vital deste elenco.

O Madureira entregou os pontos. Fred teve a chance de desencantar, mas falhou. Não importou. Afinal, depois de um período turbulento, o Fluminense vive tempos de calma em 2016.

Amidst Rangers’ first Scottish Premiership title win in ten years, the inevitable debate revolving around Steven Gerrard and the managerial hotseat at Liverpool soon followed.

There have previously been suggestions that FSG could be lining up the former Reds’ midfielder for the role at Anfield should Jurgen Klopp depart in the near future.

Despite former Reds’ hero Mark Lawrenson stating that the 40-year-old is “not ready” for the job, it could soon be time for Gerrard to take his fledgling coaching career to the next level.

Initially, it is clear that the former midfielder has had a dramatic impact on Rangers. Appointed in June 2018, he has transformed the Glasgow outfit from a side perennially in the shadow of fierce rivals to one capable of toppling the Hoops’ monopoly in Scotland.

Their first title in ten years then is a remarkable achievement, highlighted by Gerrard’s “emotional” response at the team’s coronation.

Whilst not the strongest league in Europe, the way he has gone about getting Rangers back to the top has been impressive.

The Gers have been unstoppable this season, currently undefeated after 32 matches of the campaign, a fantastic achievement regardless of the league.

Their goalscoring has also been comparable to Liverpool in their title-winning season. The likes of Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and James Tavernier have helped the club to a stunning record of 77 goals in just 32 matches at a rate of 2.4 per game.

This style of play would surely go down extremely well at Anfield considering the attacking talents on offer at the club.

On the topic of the Reds, it could soon be the perfect time to make a change.

The reigning Premier League champions have faltered in their title defence, leading to rumours Jurgen Klopp could depart. Of course, it would be a sad end to a fruitful relationship between the German and the Merseysiders but a managerial switch could be a necessity at the club in the near future if things don’t show signs of improvement.

Liverpool would certainly have to take caution in appointing a former hero after Frank Lampard’s sacking at Chelsea proved that hiring a young ex-player doesn’t always work.

However, with more patience compared to Roman Abramovich’s ruthless approach at Stamford Bridge, the Reds could see Gerrard thrive at Anfield at some point in the near future.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Dean Windass has defended Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez following the penalty incident in Sunday’s north London derby, but has urged the centre-back to eradiate his mistakes.

Midway through the second-half, the Colombian defender tangled with Alexandre Lacazette in the penalty area, and although replays showed the Frenchman missing his kick before Sanchez came in and fouled him, referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot.

Lacazette then picked himself up before sending his international colleague Hugo Lloris the wrong way to complete the turnaround for the Gunners, but Windass felt for Spurs’ South American centre-back.

It ruined what was generally another positive afternoon for £42m man Sanchez, whose been showing signs of encouragement following long spells out of the Premier League side this term – with Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld preferred by Jose Mourinho.

Sanchez has started seven league games on the bounce, but this incident at the Emirates came less than two weeks after VAR had saved him from another blunder in Tottenham’s win at Fulham earlier this month, with his miskicked clearance hitting Mario Lemina on the hand moments before Josh Maja thumped home, only for the technology to intervene.

Despite those two hairy moments, Windass believes that Sanchez has now earned Mourinho’s trust, and has backed him for a bright future.

He told Football FanCast: “He’s a young kid. I don’t think it was a penalty, I agree with Jose, he miskicks it. You have to challenge, but nowadays VAR is going to give the penalty. He’s still learning, he’s going to make mistakes, but if you want to be in the top-four you can’t afford to make mistakes, especially at centre-half.

“But he will make mistakes, I’m sure he’s got a bright future, there’s the trust of the manager because he’s been playing. But I don’t think he will blame him for the penalty.”

Com a intenção de aumentar o nível de competitividade no duelo contra o Santa Cruz, pela Coa sul-Americana, o técnico Oswaldo de Oliveira pensa em mudar a equipe, estrategicamente para estimular todos os jogadores do elenco em busca de uma vaga no time titular.

– O Diego, o Rodney e o Rogério, incontestavelmente, são titulares absolutos no Sport, mas os outros têm que estar preparados para suprir as ausências deles.
