He has revealed that whilst he doesn’t expect the Lilywhites to spend much money, “they will try to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton” – the Denmark international having been a first-team regular for the Saints this season, featuring 33 times across all competitions.

And after hearing that the club still sees the central midfielder as a potential signing this summer, Spurs fans took to Twitter to voice their reactions to the news.

One supporter insisted that bringing in both Hojbjerg and Wolves striker Raul Jimenez – who has also been recently linked with a move to the club – would be “massive”.

Another supporter suggested that Spurs would be getting a “better version of Thomas Partey” – the Atletico Madrid midfielder who has been touted with a switch to north London rivals Arsenal this summer.

A couple of Spurs fans talked up a more tactical approach of how Hojbjerg could fit in at the club, and insisted his more defensive-minded qualities is exactly what the need – the Dane has averaged 2.4 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game in the top-flight this season as per Whoscored.

With his kind of physical and combative profile, Hojbjerg is arguably the perfect player for a Mourinho side.

Valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, it remains to be seen what the asking price might be for the Dane, particularly considering the current circumstances.

He may not be a free transfer like Willian, but the 24-year-old could still prove to be very good value for money.

أوضح روبرتو مانشيني، المدير الفني للمنتخب الإيطالي، موقفه من التدريب على مستوى الأندية، في ظل تجربته الرائعة مع الآتزوري.

استذكر مانشيني النجاح في ويمبلي بمنافسات يورو 2020، حيث قاد منتخب إيطاليا للفوز على إنجلترا والتتويج باللقب، وتحدث عن مستقبله مع المنتخب.

Manchester City have effortlessly got back into their stride upon the resumption of the Premier League, winning their last two games by an aggregate score of 8-0.

However, Monday night’s romp over Burnley was tainted by a knee injury to Sergio Aguero which will now see the Argentine striker travel to Barcelona for an operation that, as indicated by Pep Guardiola, could rule him out for the rest of the season (as per Manchester Evening News).

That setback deprives Manchester City of their leading scorer not just this season but in the club’s history as they continue fighting on three fronts for the remainder of 2019/20. Although their Premier League title defence is likely to come to an end soon, they are still in the FA Cup and, significantly, remain in the hunt to win their first Champions League crown.

Aguero’s prolonged absence will almost certainly see Gabriel Jesus leading the line for City over the next few weeks and, while he doesn’t quite have the extraordinary goal record boasted by his elder team-mate, the Brazilian is no slouch in front of goal himself.

Going into tomorrow night’s visit to Chelsea, the 23-year-old has struck 18 goals this season and provided 10 assists, contributing to 28 goals in total over 41 appearances so far in 2019/20 (as per TransferMarkt). He has already stepped up with a couple of vital interventions this term, most notably his late winner at Leicester in February which was swiftly followed by the equaliser in the 2-1 win over Real Madrid a few days later.

Jesus started last week’s win over Arsenal and, although he hasn’t scored since the league returned this month, he has recorded five shots in 123 minutes of action, as well as providing the assist for Phil Foden’s second goal against Burnley on Monday.

With a return of one goal every 130.5 minutes (18 in 2,349 minutes) despite only starting 14 Premier League games so far this season, the Brazilian has been a very efficient impact player for Manchester City. However, with his longest run of consecutive league starts spanning just five matches, he will now have the added responsibility of leading the line with Aguero set to be ruled out for some time.

If that continues to be the case when the Champions League resumes in August and Guardiola’s team are chasing a historic European triumph, Jesus could be more important to the side than at any point in his four seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

While the Reds weren’t at their brilliant best during the 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday, the desire to win was still as strong as ever.

Unfortunately, that manifested itself in quite a negative way after the final whistle at Anfield as Andy Robertson was caught on camera giving the referee a dressing down, using some rather colourful language while lambasting the official.

With no crowd in the stadium, it was very easy to hear exactly what the Scot thought of David Coote’s performance on Saturday, and it’s fair to say that he wasn’t full of praise for him.

Robertson was clearly aggrieved that his side didn’t get a penalty in the second half, and he let his emotions get the better of him.

Understandably, the wider footballing world has taken issue with Robertson’s behaviour, with many calling for him to be banned, while others branded him as disrespectful.

The critics certainly have a point.

Football is an emotive sport, especially at the top level, but Liverpool have already won the league, and while this sort of reaction may have been slightly more justified had Coote’s failure to award the Reds a penalty have cost them the title, Roberston’s tirade just came across as immature and over the top on this occasion.

The left-back wasn’t the only man to confront the officials after the game.

The clip also shows Jurgen Klopp having a word with the referee, and while he kept his cool more than Robertson did, some viewers still weren’t happy to see the German talking to the officials, with many pointing towards other managers who’ve received sanctions for similar behaviour.
